Join National Archives Foundation Executive Director Patrick Madden and Elizabeth Burnes, archivist for the National Archives at Kansas City and subject matter expert for immigrant records and lead reference archivist for alien files (A-Files), for a conversation about how census records can help tell the story of immigrants in the United States.
The U.S. Census captures a snapshot of America every ten years; it also provides a glimpse into the immigrant experience from arrival to maintenance of alien status and naturalization. As we celebrate the public release of the 1950 Census, this program will look at how immigrants have historically been recorded in the U.S. Census, and make connections to National Archives holdings fr
om other federal agencies including the Immigration and Naturalization Service and federal courts.
April 28, 2022, at 5:00 PM ET.
Immigration programming is made possible in part by the National Archives Foundation through the generous support of Denise Gwyn Ferguson.
