Arem Duplessis is a Global Creative Director in Marketing Communications at Apple. Prior to Apple he served as the Design Director of The New York Times Magazine where his department was named Design Team of the Year for 3 consecutive years by the Art Director’s Club. During his tenure at GQ Magazine, he commissioned and partnered with Jonathan Hoefler and Tobias Frere-Jones on the development of the typeface GQ Gotham. Later shortened to Gotham, it became one of the most recognizable typefaces of a generation.

He is an Emmy Award winner, an AIGA (American Institute of Graphic Arts) Medalist and a 2023 recipient of the National Design Award. Launched in 2000 by The White House Millennium Council, the NDA is the industry’s highest honor, given by The Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. Arem has taught within Pratt Institute’s Graduate Design Department, The School of Visual Arts (SVA) and The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. He has lectured on design globally including London, Oslo, Madrid, Jakarta and Dubai. Arem is a graduate of Hampton University and received a Masters Degree from Pratt Institute where he was recently inducted into their Hall of Fame as a ‘Pratt Legend.’
