This Year’s Oscars Films Series at the Archives is Cancelled

Published on:

Washington, D.C. — Each year, the National Archives hosts free screenings each year of the Academy Awards® nominees in the William G. McGowan Theater located in the National Archives Museum in Washington, DC. The screenings are always a popular event for the National Archives Foundation.

This year, out of an abundance of caution for the health and safety of everyone due to the ongoing pandemic, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President David Rubin announced that the Academy is formally cancelling all in-person events that usually take place around the Oscars—including all screenings and events. Also, there will be no virtual screenings.

After we open our doors later this year and the global pandemic subsides, the National Archives and National Archives Foundation look forward to continuing our partnership and this wonderful tradition in 2022.
