National Archives Foundation Announces New Board Members: Peter Cuneo, James Gomez, and Zina Kramer

Washington, D.C.—The National Archives Foundation, the nonprofit partner of the National Archives and Records Administration, announces the election of three new members to its Board of Directors:

  • business leader Peter Cuneo;
  • financial expert James Gomez; and
  • author, educator, and political leader Zina Kramer.

“Peter, James, and Zina bring tremendous value and expertise to the Foundation,” said Chair and President of the Board Secretary Rodney E. Slater. “They are all passionate individuals who will be great assets to our mission as we advance toward the 250th anniversary of the country and beyond. It is an absolute honor to welcome them to the board.”

Peter Cuneo
Peter Cuneo is a recognized leader in strategic and financial turnarounds. He has restaged businesses for both private and public companies, including Clairol, Black and Decker, Remington, and Marvel Entertainment. He has completed seven turnarounds of distressed companies in the global media and consumer product sectors.

He is chairman of two public companies, CIIG2 and ElectroCore. Mr. Cuneo also serves as chairman of private companies, including BeyondView and Ocsial. He is also managing principal of Cuneo & Company, LLC, a private investment and management company in which his sons, Gavin and Colin, are partners. Cuneo & Co. focuses on investments in early stage consumer, media, and entertainment companies and hosts a podcast, “Superhero Leadership.”

Mr. Cuneo graduated from Alfred University with a degree in glass science (ceramic engineering). After six years as Chair of Alfred University’s Board of Trustees, he was awarded an honorary degree. He also received an MBA from Harvard Business School. He served in the U.S. Navy as a damage control officer and later as a communications officer on a guided missile destroyer. The ship was deployed twice during the Vietnam War.

James Gomez
President and COO of The Malrite Company, James Gomez oversees the operational and financial management of business affairs for all company projects, including the International Spy Museum in Washington, D.C., the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage in Cleveland, Ohio, and the Maltz Jupiter Theatre in Jupiter, Florida. Mr. Gomez has been involved with the International Spy Museum since its inception and led the award-winning effort to build the museum’s new L’Enfant Plaza facility in Washington, D.C., as its vice chair and CEO. Prior to joining The Malrite Company in April 2000, Mr. Gomez spent more than six years in the public and private accounting industries. 

He served as a senior consultant and auditor for Ernst & Young, LLP, where he worked in the Assurance and Advisory Business Services Groups. Mr. Gomez also heads The Maltz Family Office, a broad investment organization that also oversees several philanthropic projects. Mr. Gomez has a bachelor’s degree in business and accounting from Cleveland State University.

Zina Kramer
Zina Kramer is the founder and president of Events Marketing, based in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. She taught high school government and history for five years before working as a consumer reporter and then serving in various positions in state government. She was the codirector of State Senator Doug Ross’s office, on the staff of Project Self-Reliance, and marketing manager for the Department of Commerce for the State of Michigan during Governor James Blanchard’s tenure. Ms. Kramer has served as a four-time delegate to the Democratic National Convention.

She is a member of the board of directors of the Jewish Hospice and Chaplaincy Network in West Bloomfield, Michigan, and of 70 Faces Media, based in New York. She is active in women’s health issues and works on projects benefiting the University of Michigan’s Women’s Health Initiative.

Zina is the author of four editions of the Events Resource Guide for the Detroit area and the children’s book Hugging Grandma: Loving Those with Memory Disorders.
