2019 National Archives Foundation Tribute Honoring the Life and Legacy of Cokie Roberts

WHAT: The National Archives Foundation will honor the life and legacy of Cokie Roberts with its annual Records of Achievement Award. The Foundation’s Board of Directors selected Cokie Roberts as the honoree of the 2019 award this spring in recognition of her commitment to chronicling America’s story. With the sad news of Cokie’s passing, the Foundation will transform its Gala into a tribute program and bestow the award posthumously to the Roberts family.  

Cokie Roberts Day of Remembrance

Preceding the evening tribute, organizations Cokie supported and influenced over the course of her life will join with the Foundation to honor her on this day in their own special ways.

  • Governor James J. Blanchard, Chair and President of the National Archives Foundation Board
  • The Honorable David S. Ferriero, Archivist of the United States
  • Nancy Pelosi, 52nd Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives 
  • Patrick M. Madden, Executive Director, National Archives Foundation 
  • Panel discussion: Nina Totenberg, Amna Nawaz, Rebecca Roberts, Robin Sproul, David M. Rubenstein 

The National Archives Foundation also announces the Cokie Roberts Research Fund for Women’s History, which will support future historians researching women’s history at the National Archives. Contributions can be made at: archivesfoundation.org/cokiefund.
