Connecting Your Story to America’s Story

2026 marks the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and the founding of the United States of America—and all eyes will be on the National Archives.

To commemorate Declaration250, the National Archives and National Archives Foundation will lead a multi-year series of events and programs to reflect and celebrate our nation’s diversity. As Declaration250 nears, the National Archives Foundation invites your support and participation in celebrating our American stories.

Declaration250 is a major milestone for our country and a time to reflect on our many firsts, accomplishments, challenges, and stories. This celebration is also a critical moment for the One Nation, Many Stories campaign, which raises awareness for the National Archives’ mission to preserve, protect, and share the stories of America, sparking curiosity, inspiring discovery, and connecting us—to one another and our country.

Both Declaration250 and the One Nation, Many Stories campaign will invite Americans to find their place in America’s stories—and encourage them to share their own. By connecting our past to our present, together, we will build a deeper appreciation of our country’s heritage and encourage engagement in our democracy.

How will you be a part of this national moment?

The National Archives Foundation needs critical philanthropic support from individuals, corporations, and foundations to help bring Declaration250 to life. Financial support for this initiative will go directly towards transforming the National Archives Museum, civics programs and exhibits, and the 250th commemoration in 2026. These philanthropic efforts are vital to our nation’s future, encouraging more Americans to engage in building a more perfect Union. Like the democratic process, this work is ongoing and it requires all of us.
