Caroline Shanley

Communications and Partnerships Manager

As the Communications and Partnerships Manager, Caroline is responsible for all earned media  and multimedia content creation for the National Archives Foundation. She brings a deep interest and academic background in American history to the role.

Caroline has over five years of experience in the nonprofit and advocacy space, working in digital strategy, copywriting, and social media management. She graduated with her BA in Political Science and Public Relations with distinction from Purdue University in 2019. In 2024, she earned her MA in Public History from American University, specializing in 19th century women’s history and legal history. The content of her masters thesis was nearly all sourced from the National Archives, where she researched divorce trials in Washington, D.C. during the Civil War within the U.S. District Court records.

Beyond work, Caroline sings in a local choir, the Thomas Circle Singers, and can usually be found on her bike, the Metro, or with her husband James and her dog Quincy. She is happy to call D.C. home.
