DigitTreaties
DigiTreaties is a new online tool that allows visitors searchable access to 374 Ratified Indian Treaties digitized by the National Archives, along with related documents and maps. Created in partnership with the Museum of Indian Arts & Culture through the financial support of the National Archives Foundation and an anonymous donor, visitors can access these records online for the first time ever.

FEATURED RECORDS
FIRST TREATY WITH U.S.
During the American Revolution, the Continental Congress tried to maintain peaceful relations with Native Americans and encouraged tribes to either fight against the British or remain neutral.
The Delaware were one of the few tribes that allied with the Americans.
INDIAN REMOVAL ACT
Fiercely debated in Congress, this act launched a new era in Federal Indian policy that would eventually remove thousands of Native Americans from their ancestral homelands.
TRIBAL DELEGATION AT THE WHITE HOUSE
Tribal delegations traveled to Washington, DC, to express concerns regarding their treatment and to negotiate with the Government for the preservation of their lands and rights.
INDIAN CITIZENSHIP ACT
The Indian Citizenship Act extended citizenship to the approximately 125,000 Native Americans who were still not recognized as American citizens in 1924.
NAVAJO CODE TALKERS
The Navajo Code Talkers are the most famous of the Native American soldiers who served during World War II, but they were only a fraction of the approximately 22,000 men and women in uniform.
MINNIE SPOTTED WOLF
Spotted Wolf served for four years in the Marines as a heavy equipment operator as well as a driver for visiting general officers on bases in both Hawaii and California.
JIM THORPE
Thorpe won gold medals in both the pentathlon and decathlon events in the 1912 Summer Olympics. When he returned home, there was a ticker-tape parade in his honor in New York City.
